Brittany’s Place- A Safe and Sound Shelter by 180 Degrees

Brittany's Place is dedicated to the memory of Brittany Charise Clardy (June 29, 1994 – February 11, 2013). Raised in St. Paul within a supportive family and community, Brittany attended local public schools and worked at city recreation centers as a high school student. She was well-liked, with a promising future ahead of her.

Tragically, despite her strong community ties, Brittany fell victim to a sex trafficker. She was murdered on February 11, 2013, in a sex trafficking incident, leaving her family and community in mourning. In the wake of this tragedy, Brittany's mother connected with 180 Degrees, which was on the verge of opening the state's first shelter for youth involved in sex trafficking. They decided to honor Brittany's legacy by naming the shelter after her.

Brittany's spirit continues to guide and inspire those at Brittany's Place, from the residents to the staff and supporters. The shelter has grown from an emergency refuge to a nationally recognized center, offering a comprehensive range of trauma-informed services tailored to the needs of young people affected by sex trafficking.
